Build a Simple Mirror Frame with a Kumiko Panel with Mike Pekovich

Fine Woodworking Magazine Executive Art Director Mike Pekovich has been playing with the Japanese art of Kumiko for the past couple of years and has been able to develop repeatable techniques that guarantee students will have success their first time making a Kumiko panel. Here's a fun weekend class that lets you practice your mortise and tenon techniques as well as try your hand at the Japanese decorative technique of kumiko. Learn the basics of machine mortise and tenon work while you build a mirror frame with an Arts-and-Crafts flair. From there we'll fill out the frame with a row of Kumiko latticework.
